Barbara Russo

Dr. Barbara Russo is Associate Professor at FUB and director of the Master Course in Computer Science. She has been the local coordinator of the EMMC EMCSE(2007-2012). Formerly, she visited the Max-Planck Institut für Mathematik, Bonn and the University of Liverpool, UK as Marie Curie Fellow. Her last publications include Journal of Empirical Software Engineering, and Journal of Software Systems. Her books include Adopting Open Source Software, A Practical Guide (with Fitzgerald, Kesan, Shaikh and Succi), MIT Press, 2011. She participated in EU projects like NAME FP5, COSPA FP6, CALIBRE FP6. Her research interests are in the field of empirical software engineering and software measurement with focus on Open Source software and agile methods

Dieter Rombach, Research Group for Software Engineering, Universität Kaiserslautern - Germany
Prof. H. Dieter Rombach is chair for Software Engineering at the University of Kaiserslautern and Executive Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering in Kaiserslautern. Previously, He was Professor of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, and also Project Manager at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center. His main research topics can be found in the area of “Software Engineering”, especially in methods for developing software with predictable quality, in quantitative methods for measuring and assessing software products and software processes, in languages and methods for developing and using explicit software process models, in process-based software development environments as well as in software reuse.


Samuli Saukkonen, Professor at University of Oulu - Finland
Samuli Saukkonen (PhD) is full professor at the University of Oulu since 1988. He has been the head and vice-head(teaching) of department at the Department of Information Processing Science for 18 years. His main research interest are in Requirements Engineering, Product Line Engineering and Software Process Improvement. Professor Saukkonen has supervised 15 PhD thesis and 100+ MSc thesis in the field of Software Engineering.


Natalia Juristo, Professor at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid - Spain

Natalia Juristo is full professor of software engineering at Universidad Politecnica de Madrid since 1997. She was awarded, starting in January 2013, a FiDiPro (Finland Distinguished Professor Program) professorship. She was the Director of the UPM MSc in Software Engineering from 1992 to 2002 and coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus European Master on SE (with the participation of the University of Bolzano, the University of Kaiserslautern and the University of Blekinge) from 2006 to 2012. Her main research interests are experimental software engineering, requirements and testing. She co-authored the book Basics of Software Engineering Experimentation (Kluwer, 2001). She is a member of the editorial boards of IEEE Transactions of SE and Empirical SE Journal.

Markku Oivo, University of Oulu - Finland
Markku Oivo
Markku Oivo (PhD, eMBA) is full professor at University of Oulu since 2002. He is head of the Department of Information Processing Science and M-Group currently on a sabbatical at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Prof. Markku Oivo has 30+ years of research, R&D and management experience in academy and industry in Finland, US, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. During 2000-2002 he was Vice President and director of R&D at Solid Information Technologies. He held several positions at VTT in 1986-2000 including Professor and Head of Embedded SW R&D. He has held visiting positions at the University of Maryland (1990-91), Schlumberger Ltd. (Paris 1994-95), Fraunhofer IESE (1999-2000), University of Bolzano (2014-15), and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (2015). He has worked at Kone Co. (1982-86) and at the University of Oulu (1981-82). He has initiated and managed more than 100 national and international research projects and programs with tens of millions of Euros.
