Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), in Karlskrona, Sweden was established in 1989 and is located in the county of Blekinge in south-east Sweden. It is the most distinctly profiled institute in Sweden, thanks to its strong emphasis on applied information technology, IT and sustainable development in industry and society. The institute BTH is one of three independent institutes of technology in Sweden and in 1999 it was granted university status in technology. In addition to the large number of nationalities represented at faculty level, foreign students from all over the world give BTH a truly international environment. The institute is ranked as number five among the top institutions in systems and software engineering in the world by the Journal of Systems and Software based on publications in 2003-2007, and as number six for the period 2004-2008. BTH has a very close collaboration with the Swedish software industry, such as Ericsson, ABB, Telenor, Sony Ericsson, and IBM. BTH also participate in a EMMC course (PLANET Europe)
